"The first thing I notice is the improved design . . . . . Very easy to set up . . . .

The blacks are very good and autoview is a nice addition so that you don't have to change the contrast etc if watching a dark movie late in the evening . . . . . . I tested the sound coming directly from the sky box verses from via the tv and was impressed on the extra surround sound generated.  Can't wait to watch my new THX versions of Star Wars to hear what it does.

I'm slighty disapointed in the small size of manual, although you can download a in-depth version. Also, that no cables/adapters are included, but that's just the way things go . . . . . . . . and nice that you have a full-power-down button to save those penny's.

The menu system is straight-forward, hiding the advanced options unless you want to adjust them. I also like the way that when you - for example - adjust the contrast, the main menu screen reduces to the bottom corner, so that you can see how the whole picture changes with each degree of adjustment.

Overall very impressed for the amount of money spent and would recommend to anyone wanting to get a tv in this price range."

Active Vision II

Active Vision II is Toshiba's acclaimed high performance picture processing system. It has been designed to produce high quality, high definition images by enhancing core elements of a television picture.

It  allows highly detailed images to be produced far more accurately across all colour tones.

It reproduces colours with more tones than conventional LCD televisions, producing images with reduced banding for a smoother, more realistic colour progression.

Picture sharpness in fast moving scenes is increased, with a reduction in the jagged edges often seen on lines and fine detail.

The monitoring and adjustment of contrast enhances detail and increases the ability of the television to represent subtle shade changes.

Game Mode

LCD Picture Processing Active Vision 2

Colour – MPEG noise reduction and 8-BIT colour gamut processing produces screen images with much smoother colour gradation and a reduction in the ‘blocking’ effect that is often noticeable with large areas of colour of a similar detail.   (Both high definition and standard definition images are produced with increased detail compared to conventional LCD televisions.)

Movement – Toshiba's Real Speed Continuous Progressive technology removes motion blur and maintains the benefit offered by progressive scan over interlaced image technology.  This giant leap forward in the rendering of fast moving objects is particularly attractive to sports fans and overcomes the blurring often found with conventional LCD televisions.

Contrast – Active Vision LCD constantly monitors and adjusts the contrast levels required by the original signal.

Dynamic Contrast

The Dynamic Contrast technology automatically adjusts the LCD backlight depending on the level of brightness required.  Dimming the backlight enables the system to reproduce fine detail and more realistic dark scenes, without compromising brightness levels in lighter, more colourful scenes.   Increasing the brightness of the backlight in bright scenes will give images more intensity whilst retaining the contrast essential for great detail.
